Active Lane Keeping Assist Technology premieres in Mercedes-Benz CL-Class

The premiere of the Active Lane Keeping Assist Technology is one of the variety of safety features that a motorist can expect to benefit from when purchasing the new generation Mercedes-Benz CL-Class.

According to Mercedes-Benz, "these highly perceptive assistants convert the Mercedes model into a ‘thinking’ partner that can see, feel and react instantly if it detects a hazard, acting autonomously to prevent accidents or to mitigate their effects".

At the forefront of the advanced protection systems is Active Lane Keeping Assist, which utilises an electric motor in the steering wheel to warn a driver if he is threatening to cross a continuous lane marking line.

The systems use state-of-the-art radar, camera and sensor technology and gently brakes the wheels on the opposite side of the car to enable a driver to stay in their lane while giving them a hint to countersteer immediately.

Meanwhile, Adaptive Main Beam Assist controls the headlamps to ensure the best beam range without dazzling other road users and Attention Assist warns drivers if they are in danger of falling asleep behind the wheel.

Other systems that are included in the Mercedes-Benz CL-Class are Night View Assist PLUS, Speed Limit Assist and a Pre-Safe Brake.
